End of a Different World!!

Whether the world really ends in 2012 December or not, 2012 will be remembered as end of a different world if you are cricket fan. 2012 marks the end of the glorious international careers of the legends, great champion players and gentlemen - Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Mark Boucher, Brett Lee and Ricky Ponting.

It was only after 1996 world cup in India I started following cricket with great interest as game got wide coverage with the advent of satellite channels in India. It was about that time these players - Ponting, Dravid, Laxman and Boucher who started their careers in international cricket, went on to play the game for about 15 years and today are remembered as legends of the game.

Rahul Dravid - He was among the "Few Good Men" to play international cricket. He played in era when media and masses were crazy about likes of Tendulkar, Ganguly, Shewag.... but his records specially his contributions in test victories overseas speaks for itself. He did everything during his tenture- Opened in test matches under difficult conditions, played in middle up and down the order, Kept Wickets, took most numbers of catches at slips and even bowled at times when his captain wanted.

VVS Laxman - The unsung hero among the India batting greats. His 281 runs against Aussies at Kolkata will remain immortal in public memory but there were many of his 4th innings scores with tail enders which saved or won many test matches for India that went unnoticed.

Mark Boucher - The man with most number of overall dismissals in international cricket for a wicketkeeper. Believe it of not its 999! Had it not been for the eye injury he would have played for some more time got that amazing 1000 dismissals. He was integral part of South African team for almost 15 years and part of their journey that made them number 1 team in tests.

Brett Lee - He retired from Tests in 2010 because of his frequent injuries, he continued to play other international forms cricket till 2012. I still remember watching the test series in Vidhyashala dairy during Lunch break in 1999 when Lee started against India. He used to be really quick and bowl consistently 150km+. He was a champion bowler for Australia who took close to 700 wickets at international level and was more popular in India because of his Bollywood connections.

Ricky Ponting - I remember him as a Angry Young Man, when he toured India during his early part of career somehow he always looked angry to me. But as his journey continued he became one of the pillar in Australian middle order went on to captain the side that won two world cups, a champion’s trophy and as a test team dominated all the teams for many years.

Today most of the players are identified based on the amount they earn in the cricket league rather than the number of runs they scored/ wickets they took for their country at the highest level. With all these legends of the game retiring from international cricket, cricket as a game is left with just a handful of legends and champion cricketers. With so many local leagues, too many meaning less matches, controversies and scandals the game is no longer a gentleman's game... slowly the cricketing world has changed altogether.

Updated on 24th Dec: Well.. Well.. unexpected but had to happen some day. Sachin Tendulkar has retired from ODI cricket. What can I say about him, stats don't lie!!!.. there will not be another SRT. Thanks for everything Sachin.

Also world didn't end on 21st Dec, but with all the above players gone certainly cricket world has ended for many fans. Mayans must be laughing somewhere!!! :)

007 - Its time to reboot

'Time and tide waits for no man!!' so very true... the 007 moment of my life is here.. ಲೋಕಲ್ಆಗಿ ಹೇಳೋದ್ದಾರೆ its the "Anna Bond" moment... 7 years is completed in my work life... seriously time just flies by... just felt like so may things happened in life over last 7 years within a blink of an eye...

As usual service anniversary wishes... 7 years of this ... 7 years of that... all I can say is... its been 7 years of everything yet nothing!!!. No doubt last 7 years have been wonderful professionally... I have transformed from a trainee to a mentor, from a beginner to a leader [ya ya.. show off!! :)]... have been to places and going strong... yet I believe that I have not lived up to my true potential... I have probably tried to play it very safe and take it easy rather than grabbing those potential opportunities and taking up new challenges...

Before I blink few more times and realize already 15 or 20 years are gone.. its time to reboot self and start doing right things at right time...

Naanu Manasaare.... Liked It!

ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗು ದಸರ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳು!! ಎಂಜಾಯ್ ಮಾಡಿ
Recently all the movies that I watched were only in multiplexes... after a long time got to watch Manasaare in a pakka local cinema hall - Balaji theater in Tavarekere, Bengaluru. It was sooper experience and fun watching an excellent movie among the whistles... claps... comments and shouts from the crowd...

Coming to the movie, its a good, fresh & new kind of love story from Yograj Bhatru... different from his earlier super hits Mungaaru Male and Gaalipata. As usual the locations... music... picturesqueness... art direction are amazing. Though some of the dialogues reminds us of his previous movies, still it is fresh and comical...

What I liked about the movie is the message... that people who behave funnily... foolishly... in silly manner are considered as mad people by society but the truth is the people who cannot understand the funny part of someone's life are the real nuts...

If people laugh at your foolishness... let them ... en problemu ?? you enjoy the way you are Manasaare...

One to Many Effect...

As the bidding of our company gets to final stage... lot of discussions... speculations are doing rounds in our work place. I see this happening on a daily basis and almost everyone has some inputs. Somewhere each one of these discussion just leads to the news that broke on January 7 2009[our company fraud news].... Everyone has his/her own take on what ever has happened before and after Jan 7. Everybody wishes it were to be different....

Though the revelation of January 7 hasn’t lead to any major negative effects on my personal or professional front, but there is a small change. About a month back I was roaming in streets of California and now here I am in namma Bengalooru... Happy to be back and staying with family... This change that happened was because of the Jan 7 news... otherwise it would have taken some more time [don’t know how long … :)] for this change to happen.

I keep listening to similar stories everyday from many friends here... One event [revelation...] has changed many lives in someway or other... the ONE to MANY effect!!

Its All About Power...

Nice to be back blogging after long time... I said the same when I wrote the last blog... looks like I wrote it long long back...well time is running so fast that I am losing count of many things in life [what things ? don't ask !!!]...

"When the system fails... A power will raise" yup this is the very first line of the movie "SARKAR"... ever since then I have become a big fan of God Father philosophy... Now its "SARKAR RAJ"... let all critics go mad against the movie... but I enjoyed the every scene in the movie...

Its the intensity in which the characters are presented and way the story is narrated ... makes it a different kind of movie. Not everyone will like it ... but u need to be that mode where u need to understand the power game and power of life...

I have been very much impressed [full fan...] of the punching lines (dialogues) in the movie SARKAR and SARKAR RAJ... all credit goes to writer... director and his entire movie team.. here are some of the Strong lines..

"Power belongs to those... who dare to take it"

"Jaan lena jurm hai... sahi samay peh jaan lena raajneethi"

"Apne shartho peh chalne waale ko keemath chukani padthi hai.."

"I don't stop anyone from thinking... I stop them from Doing"

"Nazdeeki fyda sochne se pehele... doorka nuksan sochna chaihiye"

"Koi bhi faisala chunava se hona chaiyi hai..dhabhav se nahi"

"Admi ko maarne se pehele.. uski soch ko marana zaroori hai"

" Takath logon ko jodnese banthi hai... unko thodnese nahi.. "

"One who has got power..his wrong also will become right"

"mujhe jo sahi lagtha hai... main kartha hoonwoh chahe Bhagwan ke kilaf ho.. Samaj ke kilaf ho..Police .. Kanoon ..ya phir purey System ke kilaf..kyun na ho"

and finally "Power cannot be given... It has to be taken"

yes... its all about power !!!

No Man's Land...

I am back blogging... hehehe!! whats so funny ?...Ya blogging is fun... right !! My blog title is inspired from the 2001 Oscars winning movie from France. Remember this movie ppl ?... this the same movie which beat our very own 'Lagaan' in the best foreign movie category...

Well I have nothing much to talk about movies now... There are many places in the world which can be called 'No Man's Land'... definitely the borders of the countries is one. I had the opportunity to visit one such place of a different kind. Its a border not between two countries but between land and water... yeah one side is the land and other side is ocean... I am talking about US west coast border along sea. near Santa Cruz along highway 1... You have to be there to enjoy the nature. My words... pictures... are not enough to describe such a place...what a beautiful site. Nature has put everything there...

Its a No Man's Land ... you have to discover such beautiful places... its you and nature... what a joy :).. All along the week we do all Slogging in work... running to all places... and during weekend its a nice place to hangout and enjoy. Its such a refreshing experience. In world with so many people everywhere... No Man's Land are always special... even the movie must be... so only it won the Oscar... hehehe!!
